Students from Damak, Jhapa, describe their discovery of pockets of learning outside of their classrooms with the Book Bus in this coverage by Suryodaya Tv. From the 20th of February to the 6th of March, the Book Bus visited three schools in Jhapa: Dhukurpani Secondary School, Pancha Oti English School, and Himalaya Secondary school, conducting programs in partnership with the Damak Municipality and the UNHCR office in Damak. The stay in Jhapa wound down with a two day exhibition in Udhyog Banijya Sangh Hall, Damak, displaying the volumes of amazing work created by the participants of the Book Bus workshops, which were Histories from Home, Civil Rights, Ecosystems and art made with locally available resources, (adapted from Drawing Room Kathmandu’s art workshop), and our brand new program, Zeotrope. Read-alouds and rousing poetry performances further animated this exhibition.
