La.Lit Volume 8
La.Lit
The crux of this issue of La.Lit, ‘Translations from the Margins, is in an excerpt of featured poet Aahuti’s ‘The Story of My Poetry’. “To be a poet is to become, and also build a stage for the poetic work of many others […]”, he writes. “A literary stage is a necessary tool”. This issue of La.Lit seeks to become that stage, being a collaborative effort of writers, translators and editors, who have compiled a slice of the wider literary canon of Nepal, originally written in languages shelved and increasingly forgotten. This issue contains works translated from Nepal Bhasa and Maithili, in pursuit of broadening cultural perspective, and in appreciation of the people that make Nepal.
