Breaking the Bracket
Breaking the bracket is an annual year-long feminist fiction writing program geared toward Nepali female and non-binary writers,Breaking the Bracket seeks to build communities of feminist writers and change the mainstream narrative
What we do
Breaking the Bracket creates a safe space for women and non-binary authors to explore ideas and unpack experiences.
Learning Outcomes
Breaking the Bracket ensures that emerging writers can share their love for and fears about writing in a safe space. The program will give them a chance to share their writing in a safe space and help them grow as a feminist writer through vigorous sharing and discussion sessions.
Activities
The writers come together once a week to read, discuss and critique literature on feminism and children literature from Nepal and beyond. Each writer facilitates a discussion session on a reading of their choice. Writers go through a rigourous writing, sharing and redrafting process and attend a writing and editing residency to work with their mentors on their pieces.
