Nepal Reads

Nepal Reads is a program that allows participants to engage in discussions on books and ideas, preparing them for their role as citizens of a democratic constituency.

What we do

Nepal Reads hosts periodic sessions centered on a specific book or topic. Participants attend these sessions having read a common set of texts and engage in a conversation to understand and interpret the text. Through these sessions, we hope to build communities of readers around the country and encourage them to share and discuss their thoughts and ideas.

Learning Outcomes

Nepal Reads helps participants become better readers and communicators. It helps participants improve their ability to express themselves with confidence and encourages them to improve their listening skills. In engaging in this practice, participants become better at conversing with each other, understanding each other’s perspectives, and are able to come up with new ideas and approaches that stem from an amalgamation of ideas and experiences.

Activities

Nepal Reads hosts a series of one to two hour long discussions on a specific book or topic. Each discussion is approached through a specific theme or perspective allowing participants to take part in multiple discussions on the same topic but engage with it in different ways each time.
