What We Do

The Word Warriors work to build communities of fearless poets and writers in the places we visit.

Workshops

The Spoken Word poetry workshops combine creative writing and expression with stage performances, encouraging students to become their freer and more creative selves.

For Schools

Poetic devices, tools and techniques are introduced to students to help them develop their ideas into poetry. In collaboration with the Book Bus, the Word Warriors have conducted workshops in schools around Nepal. To invite us to give a workshop at your school, contact us at wordwarriorsnepal@gmail.com

For Organizations

Word Warriors conduct poetry workshops for art and educational organizations around Nepal.  To invite us to give a workshop at your organization, contact us at wordwarriorsnepal@gmail.com

Campaigns

The Word Warriors run annual or year-long, regional or country-wide poetry campaigns that foster creative expression and create platforms for poets and writers to express themselves.

Women on Stage

Women on Stage is a poetry program designed to introduce spoken word poetry as a medium of creative expression to women in different communities across Nepal. The program is specifically designed for members of women’s groups to encourage a love for learning, explore their inherent creativity, and bring out their expressive talents in a safe space.

Write to Speak

Write to Speak was a campaign run by the Word Warriors to introduce spoken word poetry to youth from diverse communities, giving them an opportunity to speak out and be heard.

Slams

The Word Warriors organize inter-school youth poetry slams all over Nepal. Slams to us are a celebration of youth voices and experiences.

Regional Slams

The Word Warriors organize Regional Slams to create spaces for youth to express themselves. In collaboration with Quixote's Cove, we have organized four slams in the last five years with three of them held in Kathmandu (QC Awards 2010,2013 and 2015) and one in Surkhet (QC Awards 2013: Slamming in Surkhet).

National Slams

The Word Warriors organize National Slams to bring together poets from across the country to the same stage. The National Poetry Slam in 2016 featured poets from Kathmandu, Kavre, Chitwan, Kaski, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Illam and Kailali.

Performances

The Word Warriors perform at events organized by the collective or in collaboration with organizations like Zubaan, Oxfam, or musicians and poetry collectives.

WW Live

WW Live is a bimonthly event that gathers poets and poetry. The WW live is geared towards emerging poets who want to try their hands at performing poetry. We’ve also had mini-slams during these sessions and are looking to have interactions and discussions as well.
