A king conspires to dynamite an entire dynasty of his relatives during a movie show in his garden. A worldly patriarch leaves repeated warnings for his sons who promptly forget them, leading to their downfall as a dynasty. A student rises from crushing poverty to challenge a tyrant and a king, and changes forever the fortunes of his fellow citizens. Minor characters unstitch themselves from the busy tapestry of history to take center stage and write the destiny of millions, while a few bewildered men feel the weight of their inherited crowns dissipate to the ravages of a changing world.
